MATT LOCEY
PRODUCER

Born in Hilo to the Parents of Tedd Locey and Eleanor Kanahele on the Big Island and raised in Washington State and on the windward side of O’ahu, “Matt” Locey has been active in the Film industry for many years. As a young man Matt never liked to read. When one asked him if he liked a certain book he would always respond: I’ll wait for the movie to come out. There was always a love for Movies and also Architecture. Although he studied Architecture in college, Mr. Locey ended up in the film industry. As a student at Brigham Young University – Hawaii Campus Matt was a member of the Film Club who made short 8mm films. As part of this student production team, Matt Locey was selected as the Grand Prize winner of the first annual Student Festival at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. The Prize was an internship on the set of “Magnum P.I.” the popular TV show where Matt learned a great deal about film production. While Locey did end up in the Film Industry, not in Architecture, he knew there was much more to learn.

After TV stints on shows such as; “Jake and the Fatman”, “Marker”, “Fantasy Island”, “Baywatch”, “ER”, Las Vegas”, “Flight 29 Down”, movies like; “Lord of the Flies”, “Six Days Seven Nights”, “Mighty Joe Young”, “George of the Jungle”, “Pearl Harbor”, “Snakes on a Plane”, award winning Music Videos from Chis Isaacs to Sheryl Crow, many national and international commercials and many other productions, Mr. Locey has learned many things in Film Production. Starting as a Production Assistant to Assistant Director, Associate Producer and Producer, Matthew now being the Producer of “NightTime with Andy Bumatai” is still learning. It has been years since Matt Locey has worked on a live multi-camera video show such as “NightTime” and he is eager to learn more.

Matt has worked with Andy on and off for awhile, working on their first movie for both called “Aloha Summer” which was also the first movie for Tia Carrere. Bumatai also worked with Locey on the TV series “Raven”, the Pilot for the new “Hawaii Five-0” and more recently the short lived police series “Hawaii”. Ironically, years ago, Matt and Andy had discussed the possibly of working together in a Talk Show format and here they there are together again on “NightTime”.

Matt is married to wife Mele for 24 years and has two sons Todd Makoa and Ted Makanalani and a daughter Katherine “Katt” Kawehilani.
